Calendar
Every city, town and community in British Columbia
holds special events during the year. These occasions
usually pertain to the character of the region that
the city, town or community is located in. Some
of these particular affairs are purely of a historic
nature, others take advantage of the season, while
some events are held to celebrate certain Canadian
or Provincial Holidays. Throughout this great country
we live in, Canada's Birthday is celebrated on July
1, and many distinctive events are held to coincide
with Canada Day. These special affairs take many
different forms to help celebrate B.C.'s diverse
regions and cultures.
The
spring and summer seasons mean numerous amateur and
professional rodeos, fishing derbies, music festivals,
golf tournaments, stock car races, logger sports days,
air shows, regattas and ball tournaments are being
held in British Columbia. Come September, when the
chill returns to the air, most communities hold their
own unique fall and craft fairs, wine and beer festivals.
Winter in B.C. does not mean hibernation, instead
the people celebrate with winter carnivals, cross
country ski races, curling bonspiels, figure skating
carnivals and competitions, hockey games and tournaments,
down hill ski races, snowmobile racing and hill climbs.
There are a number of places in B.C. that hold very
particular events that take a unique format, such
as a whale watching festival, bathtub races, jazz
festivals, sand blasts, polar bear swims, blossom
festivals, poetry reading festivals, art exhibitions,
film festivals and much, much more.
There are so many exceptional events held in British
Columbia throughout the year that it's impossible
to mention them all, nor where or when they will be
held. When you decide what specific event, you wish
to attend, and where it's going to be held, you will
be able to get complete details by contacting that
particular Regional Tourism Association. Click here
for information on how to contact them.
